NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A traffic stop at just the right time may have prevented a Nashville apartment complex from going up in flames.Images: Man Tells Police He Set Fire To Apartment Police said they stopped a car near the McMurray Manor Apartments off Nolensville Road in south Nashville overnight Wednesday.Officers said that’s when a young man came up and told them he had just tried to kill himself by setting his apartment on fire and that his grandmother was still inside.
The apartment was found full of smoke, and police evacuated the building.Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread to any other units.The man’s grandmother was not inside.The man suffered a burned foot and was the only person who was injured. He's in custody but officials said it's not clear what charges he will face.
