Fugitive Sought In Rape Of 91-Year-Old Woman

TELLICO PLAINS, Tenn. -- Authorities said they are searching for a man, who they believe beat and raped a 91-year-old woman in East Tennessee.Tellico Plains Police Chief Bill Isbell said Saturday Francisco Barbosa-Sanchez, 35, faces charges of aggravated rape and especially aggravated burglary in the March 5 attack. Police believe he's on the run in Mexico, his native country.The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that Isbell said a rape kit provided a DNA sample, which investigators matched from DNA obtained from a cup used by Barbosa-Sanchez.Isbell said Barbosa-Sanchez came to the U.S. illegally and stayed with a brother in Tellico Plains, located about 70 miles south of Knoxville.
Police said they're working with the U.S. Marshals Service and Mexican authorities to find Barbosa-Sanchez and bring him back to Monroe County.
