DICKSON, Tenn. -- A Dickson resident said someone is siphoning gas from cars at his apartment complex.
Watch This StoryJason Galbreath was entertaining some friends at his apartment a few days ago. When his friends went to their cars to leave, they found that someone had drained their gas tank."(He) just put $30 in it a couple of days before. So, when we were trying to get his truck started, several people approached us and told us about gas being stolen out of their vehicles," he said.
Another apartment resident said that in the last few days, someone has siphoned at least $100 worth of gas from both her cars."I started noticing...you know, I would think, 'Well, I think I have a half-tank of gas,' then I’d get in the car, and it would be a quarter of a tank. And you’re like, 'How did I miss that?'" said the resident, who asked to remain unidentified.Apartment managers have notified Dickson police. But some people at the apartments are already taking precautions. The resident who wished to remain unidentified said she bought a locking gas cap, which requires a key to get to the gas tank. She also left a note on her car that warned potential thieves of being shot should they be caught siphoning gas from her tank.
