NEW JOHNSONVILLE, Tenn. -- Emergency crews found the bodies of two missing boaters on Sunday, a week after their boat capsized on the Tennessee River.
Video: Bodies Of Missing Boaters RecoveredThe body of Brian Hamilton, 22, was found just before noon, while Chris James' body was discovered shortly thereafter.Both bodies were found not far from where their boat capsized. Authorities said they found James' body only 40 yards away from Hamilton's.
There were eight people in the boat when it capsized. Five made it to safety, including Hamilton's girlfriend, but she later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.Family members told Channel 4 News on Sunday that they were simply looking for a sense of closure and were glad that crews were able to recover their loved one's bodies.Emergency crews from across the state helped in the recovery efforts, many taking time out of their days off for no pay.The boat capsized near New Johnsonville, about 86 miles west of Nashville.
