A local city is considering purchasing talking tornado sirens.

Gallatin residents are accustomed to sirens that give off a traditional sound.

But the Emergency Management Agency director is talking with the City Council about changing that.

The new system would sound like a voice over an intercom, and the new sirens would be placed throughout the city in parks, golf courses and other outdoor spots.

Portland and Hendersonville are also talking about purchasing the sirens. The cities are considering the costs and researching the new systems.
