NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A baby great horned owl that was blown out of its nest when this week's windy storms hit the area was reunited with its mother on Wednesday.
The 5-day-old baby owl was rescued by three aquatic biologists who saw it sitting by itself on the ground.Walden's Puddle, a wildlife rehabilitation facility, and tree climber Mike Wilson helped to put the bird back where it belonged, 40 feet off the ground in a narrow crook of a tree. The renesting of the bird occurred near the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Nashville.First the team had to replace the nest with a laundry basket, and then put the owl back into the nest with its sibling. The entire time they did this, the group had to keep on the lookout for the bird's aggressive and protective mother. The group said the operation was a complete success.
