NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A baby who became the face of hope in the wake of the Feb. 5, tornadoes was reunited with his rescuer on Saturday.
Kyson Stowell, who has been called a “miracle baby,” met with the firefighter who may have saved his life.“You saved my world, half of it anyway,” said Sandra Keisling, Stowell’s grandmother.
Wilson County firefighter David Harmon was searching a field in Castalian Springs when he came across Stowell face down in a muddy field. Stowell had been blown about 400 feet.Harmon and Stowell, along with Stowell’s family, met for the first time since the rescue on Stowell’s first birthday.Stowell was blown away from his mother during the tornadoes that leveled their home in Sumner County. His mother, Kerri Stowell, was killed.“Such a cutie, he is so cute,” Harmon said.“Kerri's gone. It’s horrible, but Kyson's the miracle out of it,” said Keisling.Harmon, the father of two children, said Stowell will always have a special place in his family.Though he's being called a hero, Harmon said that title belongs to Kerri Stowell, who may have sacrificed her life for her son’s.“They still have one life to hold onto, and I think they'll treasure him even more,” Harmon said.Harmon has been on almost every network and has received thanks from President George W. Bush, but he said nothing meant more to him than finally meeting Stowell and his family.Harmon said also received a picture of Kyson from the family, which he said he plans to keep in his locker at work.
