Those grownup dreams were revealed on her grandfather’s radio show.
"What you going do when you grow up?" asked Kerri’s grandfather Jimmy Cox on the show recorded nearly 20 years ago."Be a momma," Stowell said at the age of 5.Years later, the 23-year-old indeed became a mother to Kyson.Stowell was killed during last week’s storms and Kyson was thrown more than 400 feet from his mother's grasp when a tornado leveled a portion of Sumner County.Rescue workers discovered the 11-month-old in a muddy field dirty but alive."If God took him 475 feet and set him down, he can take care of him. God can take care of little Kyson," said Cox.On Tuesday, family and friends said good bye to Stowell. Family photos show a girl who loved flowers, especially buttercups, and had a fondness for animals. One of her teachers said Stowell was a born cheerleader."She was the perfect cheerleader-type because when she walked into room, you had to feel good,” said former teacher Jennifer Claridy.Doug and Kay Stowell stood over their only child's casket on Tuesday and reminisced about what they'll miss most."Her pretty little smile, running in-and-out of the house and coming in grabbing my clothes or grabbing cookies," said mom Kay Stowell.Kyson's grandfather, Doug, said Kyson’s new nickname is "Tumbleweed” because of how the tornado tossed him.The child will turn 1-year-old on Feb. 16.Kerri Stowell and Kyson were in the middle of moving closer to her mom and dad in a new home that was being built for them. Both sides of Kyson's family will share the responsibility of raising him.
