A young Iraqi girl who was brought to Nashville for life-saving surgery had her operation on Monday and is doing well.

Two-year-old Amenah underwent the three-hour surgery at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to repair a birth defect.

The operation left Amenah with one pumping heart chamber, while a normal heart has two.

She's in an intensive care unit, but doctors said they are cautiously optimistic Amenah will make a full recovery.
