Doris Ivania Jiménez, a girl that Eric Volz once date, was killed in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Volz said he was at his home in Managua at the time Jimenez was killed.

Nov. 23, 2006
Volz was charged with murder, based on the confession of a Nicaraguan man who was originally charged with the murder and later released. Volz was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in a Nicaraguan prison despite no physical evidence being produced.

Dec. 17, 2007
Volz was ordered released after an appeals court overturned the conviction.

Volz was under guard at a police hospital while struggling to obtain his release from custody, according to his lawyer.
