Agreement Could Keep Preds In Town For Few Years

It appears to be the final face-off between Metro and the Predators investors.

WATCH: Word On The Street (11/12/07)

Who blinked first, Mayor Karl Dean or Investor group head David Freeman?

Dean made the city's final offer to the investor group. The almost daily talks between city officials and the would-be buyers of the hockey franchise have seemed as cold as the ice the team plays on.

The Japanese instrument of surrender to end World War II appeared to take less time to sign than the prolonged negotiations of the hockey team.

The delays have hurt the city, its downtown business life, as well as those interested in the Preds sticking around a few more years or more.

It also has affected the team's players who couldn't make any long-time arrangements for themselves and their families.

Have you ever heard of a single Pred player getting into any kind of trouble with the law during the team's 10 years in Nashville?

You can't say that for the pro football team in this town.

Not everyone is going to be pleased with the decision, but a decision is needed from both sides of this issue. This could happen soon.

This week there could be an announcement that both the city and the investors have reached an agreement on changes to the lease agreement.

That should insure the Predators will be around for at least a few more years.
