In Cross Plains, the K & D Orchard was known for selling fresh vegetables, holding family events and educating the public.

Authorities said the fast-moving fire burned thousands of dollars of crops and destroyed the home of four people who were working and living at the business. Classrooms that were used to teach English as a second language were also destroyed by the fire.

"I can’t replace this. There is no way at the age I am. I can’t go through this again. It’s going to be missed by a lot of people," said the co-owner of K & D Orchard, Katie Henry.

The business had been a part of the community for more than 25 years.

No one was hurt by the fire, and no cause has been determined. The fire caused about $250,000 in damage.

People in the community assisted those who were displaced with clothes and a place to stay.

The orchard's owners said they haven't decided if they will rebuild or not.
