Three Robertson County correctional officers have been terminated after the escape of a murder suspect on Monday, according to police.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Department said Joe Baker escaped from the Robertson County Jail at about 2 a.m. Monday after officers failed to lock his cell door.

When officers released locks on doors that led outside, Baker ran from his cell outside, officials said. Officers ran after Baker but were unable to catch him.

Baker surrendered peacefully to police on Tuesday after being found at a home in Clarksville.

Baker is currently being held at the Tennessee Department of Corrections in Nashville.
