UPDATED: 4:12 pm CDT September 20, 2007

A Murfreesboro landfill can no longer accept low-level radioactive waste, according to the Murfreesboro Post.

The Post reported that the Department of Environment and Conservation has taken away Middlepoint Landfill's license to receive the waste.

Middlepoint had previously asked the state to do so.

An I-Team investigation uncovered the radioactive dumping that had gone on unnoticed for almost 20 years.

After those reports, state and local leaders called for a ban on the dumping.
