NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Bruce Mendenhall, the trucker accused of being a serial killer, may soon be charged with a third murder.
Video: Trucker Could Face Charges In Lebanon DeathChannel 4 News has learned exclusive details that the Wilson County grand jury met earlier this week, and the Lebanon police have placed a hold on Mendenhall. This is something law enforcement agencies do when they need to transfer an inmate to face additional charges. The police chief in Lebanon won't confirm anything, but all signs are pointing to the fact that Mendenhall will be served with an indictment in the near future in the case involving homicide victim Samantha Wynters. It's been more than two months since the body of Wynters was found stuffed in a trash can at a Lebanon truck stop.Mendenhall was charged with killing Sara Hulbert on July 12. Her body was found in the parking lot of a Nashville truck stop just weeks earlier. On July 27, he was charged with murder a second time in connection with the shooting death of a Birmingham, Ala., resident named Lucille Carter. On Thursday afternoon, Channel 4 spoke with Wynters' 16-year-old daughter. She said her family has been in contact with detectives this week and they're optimistic about an indictment. She called Mendenhall "low down and sorry," and said she hopes he is punished to the fullest extent.
