NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- State officials will meet Thursday to discuss radioactive dumping in Rutherford County.Gov. Phil Bredesen ordered a two month moratorium on radioactive dumping at Middle Point landfill after reporter Demetria Kalodimos' I-Team stories.Officials will not take questions during the meeting, but they have promised two public hearings in the future.More than 10 million pounds of radioactive material was dumped at the Murfreesboro landfill in 2005.There are at least four of these types of dumping facilities in Tennessee, which is more than any other state in the country.Rutherford County officials in charge of the landfill said they had no idea the dumping was going on before the Channel 4 report.
