A dog that was allegedly set on fire by a group of Nashville children was found dead on Friday.

Animal control officials said the animal's remains were discovered in an alley off Eleventh Avenue North.

It was found close to an abandoned house where police said the dog was doused with gasoline last weekend.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, officials said they could not identify the dog's gender and they are conducting an autopsy to learn more.
