NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Several people were physically assaulted and a pregnant woman was sexually assaulted in a home invasion Sunday night.
Video: Pregnant Woman Raped In Home InvasionPolice said three men with long rifles and masks walked up to a house and knocked on the door and forced their way in.Ramon Garcia said he and his eight friends were ambushed Sunday night."He said, 'Give me the money or I'm going to kill him,'" Garcia said. He said the man then asked for more.Garcia said the men were rounded up while the woman was taken to another room by a man with a gun."I had never seen her in that bedroom window before, and I saw someone bring her in there, and she looked directly at me through the window and she was crying," said neighbor Billy Rose.Rose said he witnessed parts of the invasion from his home next door and called police."There was one guy already in there with gloves on and a ski mask. The other guy came in with a gun ... it had one of those curved magazines in it like an AK or whatever they call it. They were holding them. They were at gunpoint. He turned and looked at me. At that point, I told the guy on 911 that 'he just saw me,' and he told me to get on the floor and turn all the lights off, so I did," Rose said. The attack was in progress when police arrived at the scene, they said."Before they left, one of the suspects forced the lone woman inside the house to another room and raped her," Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said.Garcia said she was nine months pregnant.Police said there was initial confusion because the attackers ran out the back door and the victims ran out the front.“(It’s a) terrible crime that we put a large amount of effort into pursuing, because it’s obvious anytime that you have people that are robbed, assaulted and sexually assaulted in their residence, we consider it a very concerning issue we’ll put a lot of effort into,” said Metro police Capt. Rich Foley. The victims in the house were Hispanic.Police said they believe the crime could be linked to other home invasions that have targeted Hispanic families."We're also very concerned that this particular case fits a pattern of about 10 home invasions since the first of the year involving victims of Hispanic descent," Aaron said.In early January, police said three men carrying rifles broke into a house in south Nashville.Police said the victims could not give them a good description of the men. They told police that the men spoke both English and Spanish and also some Arabic.
