House Fire Claims Life Of Retired Doctor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A fire Monday night on Vine Ridge Drive in west Nashville claimed the life of a retired doctor.
Dr. Roy Parker, 83, who used to work at Baptist Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology, was found dead in a hallway in a likely attempt to escape his burning home.Fire officials said that smoke inhalation was likely the cause of Parker’s death.Investigators said an electrical problem may have sparked the blaze.Friends and neighbors said that despite Parker’s age, he was still very independent.Parker is credited with delivering thousands of babies during his service at Baptist Hospital.He leaves behind two sons, a daughter and several grandchildren.
