A fire gutted a young family's trailer home Friday as they worked for some extra holiday cash.

Firefighters said Harry and Brenda Swift, both 18, had recently moved into a modest mobile home on Cheyenne Boulevard at the Old Hickory Estates.

Both Harry and Brenda Swift were working an overnight shift to earn some extra money for the holidays, when the fire destroyed their home.

The couple’s 5-month-old baby was asleep at a grandparent’s house when the blaze started.

The family received donations form the police department including baskets of food and gifts for their baby.

The Swifts said they would continue to accept holiday donations.

Anyone who wishes to donate can give directly to the Swifts. They are staying at their parents’ house at lot 500 Cheyenne Boulevard until they can replace their home.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
