NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nobody has spent more time with Arthur March than his attorney Fletcher Long.
VIDEO: Word On The Street (10/30/06)Well, except for maybe the jailers in Nashville and Leichfield, Ky.But other than that, Long has the inside information on March and his relationship with his son, Perry.
If it had not been for Perry March and his attempt to have Larry and Carolyn Levine put away, Arthur March would still be in Mexico to this day, living his happy life.So what does Arthur now say about Perry who is serving a 56-year prison sentence on an assortment of charges, including murdering his wife, Janet?"Perry is a smart kid who could never do anything right," Long says Arthur told him. "He just doesn't have walking around sense".As an example, when Perry summoned him to Nashville after the murder, Arthur was quoted as telling his attorney that Perry told him of killing his wife. He then said, "I got to get rid of her body.""Are you nuts? You don't know how to get rid of the body?” Perry's 78-year-old father replied. No Nashville television station has ever interviewed Arthur March since he was brought here by FBI agents to face trial in the bizarre murder-for-hire episode. Although you may see a few clips from a network television interview on a local station, according to Long. That interview was done at the Grayson County Detention Center at Leichfield, Kentucky jail several weeks ago.Court TV cable station was in Nashville last week interviewing both Long and John Herbision, Perry's lawyer, for a story they plan to broadcast about the bizarre case in February. And finally, why did Arthur March agree to an 18-month federal prison sentence for his full cooperation against his son? Of course the judge raised the sentence to five years. He was quoted by his attorney as saying he knew that Larry Levine, father of the murdered Janet March, "would never let me get 18 months."
