Dean Meets With Serpas; Clement To Meet With Black Journalists

Karl Dean met Thursday with Metro Police Chief Ronal Serpas. The meeting isn't being touted as an official endorsement, but they did talk about juvenile crime and other public safety issues.

Dean's opponent, Bob Clement, has been officially endorsed by the Teamsters union and the Fraternal Order of Police.

There was some controversy earlier this week when it was suggested that Clement would fire Serpas if elected. His campaign has denied that claim.

Clement was scheduled to meet with the Nashville Association of Black Journalists at their forum Thursday night.

The actual runoff election date is Tuesday, Sept. 11.
