Nashville's city-wide election is in August and three of the candidates for mayor cast their ballots Friday.

Volunteers for different campaigns showed up at the Metro Election Commission to voice their support for candidates.

Ray Barrett of the Metro Election Commission said they predicted 100,000 people total.

"More people are voting now than on Election Day," he said.

Three of the candidates for Nashville mayor, Buck Dozier, Bob Clement and Karl Dean, all voted Friday.

All three said they hoped that citizens voted whether it was early or on Election Day.

“I think it’s just a convenience more than anything for people rather than all coming out on the same day and having to worry about the weather that day,” said Dozier.

“I’m enjoying it every day, and I like meeting people, and I feel really, really positive about the campaign,” Dean said.

“I couldn’t have worked any harder. I reached out to people,” Clement said.

The Election Commission was the only place residents could vote early Friday.

Beginning next Wednesday, voters will be able to vote early at nine other sites.
