Gentry said he will “mobilize and unite all of Nashville so that we can finally have a world-class school system in a world-class city.”Gentry says the arts have influenced him since he was a little boy. He said that plays and other arts mediums have inspired him “to dream about a better world and then do my best to make that dream a reality.” Gentry said he wants to attract more films to Nashville and to get more people involved with the arts.“A mayor should promote Nashville as a first-class city for the arts to attract more events like the recent Shakespeare Theatre Association of America annual conference hosted by the incredible Nashville Shakespeare Festival. We have the world-class Nashville Symphony in the beautiful new Schermerhorn Symphony Center, a dynamic Nashville Opera, a Nashville Children’s Theatre that Time Magazine called one of the top five children’s theaters in the country, and so much more to be proud about and build on,” Gentry said on his Web site.Gentry also said he would establish an Office of Music and Entertainment if he is elected mayor.* Information courtesy Howard Gentry's Web site.
