CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A 7-year-old boy was playing in his yard on Monday when a pit bull broke loose from its chain and dragged him into nearby bushes.
Video: Child Dragged, Attacked By Pit BullAlex Miller, 7, said he was playing in his front yard when he said the dog came out of no where and started biting him.The first-grader's father said the child was playing after school when the neighbor's pit bull-mix attacked.
"He broke loose and came around. There was no warning … no time for anything. It was a straight attack," said father Chris Miller. The child has bite marks and puncture wounds on his right shoulder, wrists and head."More than anything, it was the trauma. He’s afraid to play in his own yard,” said Chris Miller.Randy McCullough is the dog's owner and said he feels badly about what happened."I've been very, very remorseful about the situation. The whole time when it happened, I was trying to make sure he was OK. I was telling them countless times that I was sorry,” said McCullough.McCullough is keeping the dog in his garage for the time being but said he had decided to have the animal put to sleep in 10 days.Police gave the dog's owner a citation because the animal did not have its current rabies shots.
