CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Clarksville police have charged a homeless man with arson after a Red Cross vehicle used to respond to emergencies was burned on Friday.The truck, which was loaded with supplies, was completely destroyed, officials said.Police charged 38-year-old Eric John Wayne with arson and two counts of burglary after finding him Saturday in a portable toilet stolen from the vehicle.The truck contained first aid equipment and a generator. The loss comes to $60,000, the Red Cross said.
The truck was loaded and ready to go to the Earth Day Festival at Fort Campbell this weekend.The local chapter plans to replace the vehicle and is using pickup trucks and cars to deliver supplies for now.Representative said for those who wish to help to call Gina at 931-289-1919, or call the Clarksville Red Cross Chapter at 931-645-6401.
