Lockheed Martin is closing seven flight service facilities across the country, including one at the Nashville International Airport, on Feb. 1, said a corporate representative.

Corporate representative Jan Gottfredsen said the decision will affect 28 workers in Nashville and was made due to a 13 percent decrease in call volume to the flight services facilities.

One-hundred sixty employees will be affected nationwide by this closure.

Three hubs will remain in Washington, D.C; Fort Worth, Texas; and Prescott, Ariz. Three other non-hub sites will also remain in Princeton, Minn.; Miami, Fla.; and Raleigh, N.C.

Lockheed Martin said it is working to find places for affected employees within the company.

A severance package with two to three weeks of base pay will be offered to affected employees.
