Feds Give Tenn. $99 Million In Weatherization Funds
Funds Work To Reduce Low-Income Families' Energy Bills

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee residents could be eligible for some money to fix up their home.On Tuesday, the federal government gave Tennessee its second installment of weatherization recovery funds. The $99 million will help low-income families to reduce energy bills by making their homes more efficient with insulation, weather stripping and window replacement.The money is allocated to the state under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."We are very excited about this latest installment of Recovery funds," said Tennessee Department of Human Services Commissioner Gina Lodge. "It will move us further toward our goal of improving the energy efficiency of over 10,000 homes. We encourage citizens to apply for this program at their local Weatherization agency."Priority will be given to people with disabilities, the elderly and families with children less than 6 years old.Additional Resource:
