Items Rented Via Web Site

Transactions Backed Up By Contract

Instead of selling items on eBay or Craigslist, residents might be able to make more money by renting them.

A new Web site called Zilok.com is an online bulletin board for renters. It is suggested that people rent their items to someone like a neighbor or someone they know well.

People are finding out that they can rent a drill for $10 a day or a digital camera for $15 or $30 a day, depending on the model.

Items often rent for around 17 percent of the original price.

Once both parties work out a price, the Web site takes a cut and the deal is made.

Every transaction is backed up by a contract that includes a deposit. The Web site is up and running in many major cities, but not in Nashville yet.
