The sheriff's department arrested four people Sunday on charges of looting.

Officers said they arrested Darrell Rich, Carrie Rich, Shannon Knight and April Wiggins after catching them taking air conditioner parts, copper and aluminum from an area on Akersville Road.

According to the Macon County Times, officers found tools that could be associated with the burglaries in a car where the group was placing the stolen items.

The Akersville Road community was one of the hardest hit areas in the county during storms and tornadoes Feb. 5.
