Obesity Report Puts State Near Top

Tennessee Adults, Kids In Top 5 For Obesity

POSTED: 1:58 pm CDT July 1, 2009
UPDATED: 2:29 pm CDT July 1, 2009

More and more Tennesseans, young and old, are seeing their waistlines reach epidemic proportions.

A new report from Trust For America's Health shows the state has the fourth highest rate of obese adults and the fifth highest rate of obese children.

The slumping economy could make the problem even worse: Lower-income families have less access and money for healthy food.

Plus, increased crime rates may keep many families from getting out and exercising in their neighborhoods.
