Professor Wrestling: TNA 'Sacrifice' Results
Samoa Joe Teams With Sting
POSTED: 9:07 am CDT May 12,
2006
Listen up!Class is in session. The dust has settled, and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's "Sacrifice" pay-per-view is in the books, with X-Division star Samoa Joe stealing the show. So what happened in the big matches? Read on, kids.Challenge Match: Team 3D vs. The James Gang
What Should Happen: It's the former Dudley Boyz taking on their old WWE foes, Kip and BG James (Billy Gunn and Road Dogg). Devon and Ray shouldn't have a problem with these two overachievers. I'd book a Team 3D squash if it were up to me.
What Will Happen: 3D puts 'em through a table to win.
What Did Happen: BG hit Devon with a lead pipe to score the victory for the bad guys.
NWA World Tag Team Title Match: A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels vs. America's Most Wanted (c)
What Should Happen: This is a no-brainer. It's time for the X-Division stars, Styles and Daniels, to wear some gold, and further strengthen an already strong tag-team division. I'd make sure the match has a lot of thrills, with an ending to satisfy fans. The babyfaces need to win here. What Will Happen: In an upset, I'm picking Styles and Daniels.
What Did Happen: No upset here. Styles is hit in the back of the head with a police night stick, and goes down. Bad guys retain. Hopefully the good guys will get another shot at it.
Challenge Match: Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner vs. Sting and Samoa Joe
What Should Happen: Smart decision on TNA's part to put Samoa Joe with Sting. Joe is the cornerstone of the promotion right now, and he needs to be put at the top of the card. Here, you have a nice blend of three guys fans are familiar with, and the up-and-comer Joe, who also happens to be the X-Division champion. Again, it doesn't really matter who wins as long as fans are given quality action, driven by Joe's performance. TNA has to get us hooked on Joe.What Will Happen: If Samoa Joe doesn't pin Jeff Jarrett, then TNA doesn't have a clue.
What Did Happen: Joe pinned Jarrett in a nice little tag team match. TNA has a clue.
NWA Title Match: Christian Cage (c) vs. Abyss
What Should Happen: This one is called "Full Metal Mayhem," where tables, ladders and chairs will be in play. So it'll be your typical pay-per-view bloodbath. Here, I'd keep the belt on Cage -- but there's no reason these two can't put on an "I'm glad I paid for this spectacle."What Will Happen: Cage tames the monster Abyss to keep his title.
What Did Happen: Cage tames the monster to keep his belt. Time for Christian to start something nasty with Samoa Joe.For the record, two right, two wrong on the big matches. Sheesh, I'm better than a .500 hitter! Better get back on the steroids. That's it!Class dismissed!(Professor Wrestling is a masked employee of Internet Broadcasting.
