NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The week of the annual Country Music Association Festival has arrived, and thousands of visitors are pouring into Music City to see their favorite country stars.
Video: RV Parks, Hotels Still Available For CMA FestBut gas prices are cutting into the arrival of caravans of recreational vehicles that normally book up campgrounds.RV parks and area hotels said on Monday that they still have room available, which is rare for the week of the country music festival.At the KAO campground on Music Valley Drive, there is still lots of space available because of cancellations, the manager said.The Courchesnes of Canada are in Nashville and said at 10 miles a gallon, the trip will cost them about $900 in fuel.Tom and Mary Elrod drove to middle Tennessee from Michigan for the festival as they have done every year for 10 years. But with increased fuel costs, they said this year may be the last time they make the trip."We burn diesel in the truck and at $4.89 a gallon, it averages 12 miles a gallon pulling the camper. It took $250 to drive 550 miles.
