GLOUCESTER, Mass. -- Actress Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James, were involved in a head-on crash with a drunken driver Friday night, according to police.

Police said the couple were being driven by Mark Hussey, of Londonderry, N.H., in a rented black SUV in Gloucester around 10 p.m. Friday when they were hit by a vehicle driven by Lucile Gathcell, 64, of Gloucester, reported WCVB-TV in Boston.

Police said Hussey tried to avoid the oncoming car but couldn't get out of the way.

Gatchell was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and marked lane violations, police said.

Police said a witness to the accident was driving behind Gatchell and was dialing 911 to report her swerving when he saw the accident happen.

No one was injured in the crash.

Bullock is shooting the romantic-comedy "The Proposal," which also stars Ryan Reynolds, Mary Steenburgen and Craig T. Nelson, in Rockport, Mass.
