Listen up!

Class is in session.

I really think TNA is at a crossroads. It's had a two-hour timeslot on Spike for several weeks now -- time enough for writers to get a grip on the characters and flesh out storylines. If TNA's ratings and pay-per-view buyrates don't increase over the next few months, you really have to wonder about the long-term viability of the company. For the sake of competition, here's hoping the company finds its true voice and makes Vince McMahon nervous.

With that said, how about a few predictions and results on the TNA "Genesis" pay-per-view? Thought you'd never ask.

TNA Women's Title: Gail Kim (c) vs. ODB vs. Roxxi Laveaux vs. Angel Williams
What Should Happen: I can't lie to you, class. I have no interest in this ladies contest. But this is a good spot to say rest in peace to the late Lillian Ellison, better known as The Fabulous Moolah. She wasn't a stripper, but she could put on a wrestling match. For better or worse, times have certainly changed.

What Will Happen: Champion Gail Kim will prevail.

WhatDid Happen: Kim got the pin.

Challenge Match: Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode
What Should Happen: This one could be an old-fashioned slobberknocker. I think TNA should toss everyone a curve and let Roode win. That would further elevate him into the top tier.

What Will Happen: Samoa Joe will win it, with the assistance of Roode's disgruntled valet, Ms. Brooks.

WhatDid Happen: Joe pinned Roode cleanly.

Challenge Match: Team 3D vs. Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin
What Should Happen: Here, the former Dudley Boys face the X-Division darlings, known as the Motor City Machineguns. I can't decide if that's a great or terrible name for a tag team. At any rate, Ray and Devon now hate the X-Division and want to destroy all the small fries. I like the angle, but I don't know where they should go with it right now. Perhaps Team 3D should get a few slimy wins before getting their heel comeuppance down the road.

What Will Happen: I like Team 3D in this one.

WhatDid Happen:Nope, the good guys took it -- as Ray got pinned cleanly.

Shop Of Horrors Match: Abyss vs. Black Reign
What Should Happen: Black Reign is Dustin Rhodes, doing a gimmick where he hangs out with a live rat. Spooky! You know, there's really nothing wrong with plain old Dustin Rhodes, son of Dusty. As for this match, look for something short, sweet and gross. That's the way it should be.

What Will Happen: Black Reign has to pick up a win at some time. Why not in a match where the rules probably won't matter?

WhatDid Happen: Abyss won this contest with a black hole slam.

Ladder Match: Kaz vs. Christian
What Should Happen: The winner gets a shot at the TNA title. Do you really think Kaz will get a crack at the gold? Please.

What Will Happen: This is one of those bet the farm matches. Put all available funds on Christian.

WhatDid Happen: I also picked the Vikings to beat the Packers. Kaz won.

X-Division Championship Match: Jay Lethal (c) vs. Sonjay Dutt
What Should Happen: As I mentioned earlier, TNA is at a crossroads. Why not spend a good 30 minutes in this match to put on a show-stopper, and re-solidify TNA's early reputation as a wrestler's promotion? That's what I would do.

What Will Happen: I'm picking Dutt to grab the X-Division gold.

WhatDid Happen: Lethal got the pin, to retain his X-belt.

TNA Tag Team Championship Match: A.J. Styles and Tyson Tomko (c) vs. Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner
What Should Happen: This match could be fun if everyone plays up their strengths. After all these years, I have to say it's still a pleasure to see the Steiners in action. They don't have to win this match -- just give us a few thrills. (Did someone say Frankensteiner?)

What Will Happen: Styles and Tomko will retain their belts.

WhatDid Happen: Styles and Tomko took it.

TNA Champtionship Match: Kurt Angle (c) and Kevin Nash vs. Sting and ???
What Should Happen: Booker T is expected to be the Stinger's mystery partner. This is a tag match, but the man who gets the pin is the TNA champ. Call me an old man, but I'm not a big fan of the gimmick main event match on a pay-per-view. What should happen? Well, TNA has been treating this belt like dirt the past few weeks -- so I guess in their eyes it doesn't matter. Dumb move, TNA. Get back to basics and respect your championship gold.

What Will Happen: I say Angle will hang onto his belt.

WhatDid Happen:Booker T was the mystery partner. Angle won the match after he pinned Sting.

That's it. My picks for TNA's "Genesis." For the record, I had four right out of eight, good enough to bat .500 for the night. Of course, I was perfect in the main event (as usual), down to picking who the mystery partner would be for Sting.

Still hungry for more wrestling perfection? Then check out Dr. Mike Lano and the authoritative George Schire on Episode 53 of "Old School, New School." Be a sport and download it RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW! You won't regret it.

That's it!

Class is dismissed!
