CHARLOTTE, Tenn. -- The mayor of Dickson County said a budget that was approved Monday to fund schools has been rejected by the state. He said the district did not properly transfer some money into reserves. Now, the school board must meet Monday to correct the discrepancy. It's critical because the school system has been waiting on $3 million in state funding that it cannot receive until a budget is approved. The school system is expected to send a letter assuring the state it will vote to amend the budget. The state said that "good-will gesture" will be enough to release the funds for October.
