To open up the new planetarium, a 26-minute program called STARS will be narrated by actor Mark Hamill, with the soundtrack performed by The Nashville Symphony.

It will be able to project 6.5 million stars on a high-definition, full-dome system and offers technology not offered anywhere else in the country.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday with a full day of celebration and special guest speakers scheduled.

Admission is $11 to the center and another $6 for tickets to the planetarium show.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams will feature the planetarium next week. Channel 4's Terry Bulger will also report on this new education tool.
