People may want to check their receipts if they dined at a restaurant over the weekend.

Almost 200 people who were customers at Jonathan's in Bellevue were surprised to learn they were charged twice for a single night out on Saturday.

Manager David Fair said he could hardly believe his eyes when his receipts from Saturday’s sales totaled to thousands of dollars more than what they should have been.

"We check our bank accounts every day, and there was a discrepancy (of) about $5,020 more. And we were like, 'Where is this coming from?' So we called our bank and they were like, 'We have no idea.' And I said, 'Well this is very odd. We need to figure this out,'" he said.

Before he could find what the problem was, Fair said, the restaurant began receiving calls from angry customers who said they had been charged double for Saturday’s check.

Fair said he believes there was a glitch with the credit card processing company he uses, First Data. He said more is at stake than just money.

"Customers which eventually cost us money. I am very anxious to see how First Data controls this, because there are probably students who are bouncing checks right now," Fair said.

First Data is in partnership with a Georgia company called Priority Payment Systems. That company sent Fair an e-mail that said all 182 people who were overcharged will be reimbursed.

First Data also told reporter Cynthia Williams that there has been an isolated problem for a number of other customers at other area restaurants. A representative would not say if the problem was more widespread.

Fair confirmed that all customers at Jonathan’s had been reimbursed.

Residents should check their credit card statements or bank accounts to check for an overcharge. If there is one, they should contact the merchant.
