NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Victims' family members watched and cried Wednesday as the suspects in the Bellacino's double slaying case denied taking part in the shootings of two men.
Video: Families Upset At Pleas Of Bellacino's Slaying SuspectsJason Bobo, Crystle Rutherford and Ravaughn Harris all pleaded not guilty to taking part in the shootings of Josh Cole, 18, and Chris Caris, 33, in October 2007.On Wednesday, all three were formally charged with the slayings after being indicted by a grand jury.
"They took our loved one. And we can't have him back. Their families can visit them. They can talk to them. They can accept calls. We'll never get that call again," said Cole's mother, Katina Cole.Police said Caris and Cole were shot to death during a botched robbery by Bobo, a former employee who was fired for stealing."We were soon to be married, so they took my future. They took all I had," said Chris Caris' fiancee, Marianne Purcell.Police spokesman Don Aaron said when the shooting occurred, witnesses identified Bobo, who was 21 at the time, as the man who shot Caris and Cole. All three suspects were charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Police said they believe Harris drove the getaway car."I think they're cowards for not going ahead and confessing for what they've done," said Katina Cole.Four employees and one customer were inside the restaurant when the robbery occurred, police said.Cole's grandfather watched the hearing, and after listening to the not guilty pleas, he's still convinced the victims and both families will eventually see justice."I totally feel confident that these people that I met this morning will see that. That's what we're here for, justice," said Josh Cole’s grandfather, John Dwight Cole. After the three suspects were formally charged on Wednesday, Chris Caris' fiancee said that she is pushing for tougher gun crime laws.Katina Cole said she wants the death penalty for the three suspects.
