MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Fifth graders and senior citizens teamed up on Thursday to form an assembly line to fill Christmas stockings for the Salvation Army.A singing Santa Claus lead the way as students from Erma Siegel Elementary school assisted seniors to stuff stockings at the AdamsPlace Residential home.One-hundred stockings were filled with items like, shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes and toothpaste. The stockings will be given to needy seniors as part of the Salvation Army's Christmas 800 Stocking Giveaway.Organizers said this is a learning experience for the students."We can learn so much from our seniors. They are just walking gifts of information, knowledge and wisdom. Hopefully some of the children who don't have that can see that and learn from them. We can learn from the children too," said AdamsPlace marketing director Kelly Hanna.Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg helped Salvation Army officials and volunteers put the finishing touches on the Christmas stockings.Santa Claus also told Christmas stories to the students and gave everyone gifts.
