Friday Events Get Jump Start On July 4
Games, Cookout, Fireworks Planned

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Those wishing to get a jump-start on July Fourth activities can plan for one of several events Friday.Lipscomb University's annual Summer Celebration Festival kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with family-friendly activities, such as games and ice cream. A worship service is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a concert at the Allen Bell Tower by vocal quartet Acapella at 8:30 p.m.Fireworks will begin half an hour after the concert.The free festival is being held at Allen Arena Mall on the school's campus -- One University Park Drive -- which is smoke- and alcohol-free. Food will be available for purchase from Chick-Fil-A, Blue Coast Burrito and Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q.The Nashville Zoo kicks off the holiday with Red, White and Zoo -- an all-American cookout, running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.Finally, Clarksville residents will gather at McGregor Park starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks should begin at about 9:30 p.m.
